Minion Land Construction Update at Universal Orlando

Minion Land details were released earlier this week including new concept art for the area. You can see clearly where everything will be if you take a trip to Universal Studios Florida. We took care of that for you if jumping on a plane or car and heading to Universal Orlando isn’t an option! Let’s take a look at the current construction progress around Minion Land and Illumination Ave!

We’ll start with the first attraction you see entering Minion Land – Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. There haven’t been any construction updates to report here, because the exterior has been finished, or mostly finished, for some time now.

If you continue walking down the main street of Production Central / Minion Land, you’ll run into Bake My Day on your right. It looks like a lot of progress has been made on the building when you compare it to the concept art.

The Minion has already made its home on top of the giant cupcake. Hopefully, the Florida sun doesn’t damage it too much before opening.

To the right of Bake My Day is Illumination Theater. The theater will be where you can meet and greet characters from Despicable Me, Minions, and Sing. It looks like there hasn’t been a lot of progress made on this part of Illumination Ave.

To the left of Bake My Day is Freeze Ray Pops, Minion Cafe and Pop-a-Nana. The exteriors for some of the buildings are already showing a lot of detail and the signage for Minion Cafe is starting to be placed.

The final bit of construction in this area is on the opposite side of the street from Minion Cafe. One of the kiosks by the Music Plaza Stage is behind Minion construction walls. It could be incorporated into the area or it may just be under refurbishment and they are keeping the walls in that area the same. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was part of Minion Land. The concept art shows Pop-a-Nana to the left of Minion Cafe, but it would make more sense across the street at a dedicated kiosk.

That’s it for the current look of construction at Minion Land. The new area inside Universal Studios Florida will open this summer. Parts of the land look like it might be a late summer opening, but we will have to wait and see!
