The Best Kid-Friendly Attractions at Islands of Adventure

Many may feel discouraged about bringing kids to Islands of Adventure because of all the thrill rides but no need to worry; there’s plenty for little ones here. Suess Landings, Camp Jurassic, and Hogsmeade have fantastic attractions and experiences for young travelers to experience. Let’s take a look at all there is to do!

Seuss Landing

Seuss Landing has excellent attractions for little ones, and the entire family can also join in the fun. The main ride here is Cat in the Hat, a kid-friendly attraction perfect for kids under seven and tweens. This is a dark ride filled with scenes from the beloved Dr. Seuss story, and you will be swerving and twisting from room to room.

There’s a fun, quirky carousel called the Caro-Seuss-el across the way from the Cat in the Hat ride. This attraction has no minimum height requirement, but anyone under 48 inches requires a supervising companion. The best part is guests riding can make their characters’ eyes blink, ears wiggle, and heads turn.

If you are a fan of the PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom, you’ll love this next one. This land’s equivalent is the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride. This ride does have a minimum height of 36 inches, but according to Universal’s website, it’s perfect for kids ages seven and under and tweens. I enjoy this attraction mainly because it has incredible park views and is relaxing.

Next, we have the fun “Dumbo” style attraction called One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Heads up, you might get wet while on this ride due to the array of fountains that squirt water in time to a musical rhyme. This attraction has no minimum height, but travelers under 48 inches will require a supervising companion.

Hogsmeade

Do your young travelers love Harry Potter but aren’t ready for Forbidden Journey and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure? Then Flight of the Hippogriff is perfect for them. This fun coaster is very reminiscent of Barnstormer at the Magic Kingdom. The minimum height requirement is 36 inches; anyone under 48 inches will require a supervising companion. This family-friendly roller coaster spirals and dives around a pumpkin patch before passing Hagrid’s hut. You may even hear Fang barking along the way!

Camp Jurassic at Jurassic Park

Camp Jurassic is a vast recreation area and is a multi-level prehistoric playground. Here kids can explore dark caves, and amber mines, climb dinosaur-capture nets and walk across suspension bridges. Not only is this one huge playground that can tire out your kids just in time for nap time there’s also a fun ride here.

The Pteranodon Flyers is a ride with a weird height requirement. The minimum height is 36 inches, and the maximum is 56 inches; unfortunately, I am 3 inches too tall. It is also noted that guests can be accompanied by a rider meeting the height requirements so that parents can ride with their kids. This ride soars and gently swings through the air, and guests will ride in a comfortable seat that is suspended from a track above. There are no sudden or scary movements, perfect for travelers not ready for big-kid thrills.

As a kid, I loved running around Seuss Landing. There are so many play areas within the land, and I definitely kept my dad busy as he followed me. Camp Jurassic was another place I enjoyed growing up. I have such great memories of riding the Pteranodon Flyers with my dad and later in life with my sister and brother. We used to come up with very detailed stories while we ventured through the tunnels and walkways of this camp. I can’t wait to bring my nieces and nephews here one day and experience it all again, but this time through their eyes.
