A Look at Universal’s Aventura Hotel Urban Pantry

With every new hotel at Universal Orlando comes new and interesting restaurants. Universal’s Aventura Hotel will be opening in August and their “modern food hall” will be known as Urban Pantry and will feature “diverse flavors, fresh ingredients and globally inspired dishes” according to Universal Orlando’s official blog.

The design and style of Universal’s Aventura Hotel is contemporary and stylish and Urban Pantry will fit into that theme with food inspired by food halls and markets found in places like San Francisco and London. Food halls are becoming a very popular way to sample many different cuisines all under one roof, so count us in on the food hall excitement train. The best part is, Urban Pantry will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, allowing for many eclectic meals throughout the day. Universal is also promising that there will be plenty of seating and floor-to-ceiling windows allowing lots of sunlight and a pool view.

Food will be served from a Roast Station, Pizza Station, Wok Station and Burger Station. The Roast Station will be the home for lamb, prime rib, chicken, salmon and paella as entrees with quinoa, couscous, roasted marble potatoes, spinach and seasonal veggies as sides. The Pizza Station should be pretty straightforward on what is served, but some of the ingredients may come as a surprise. Prosciutto? Not so much. Smoked salmon? You betcha. The featured dessert at this station will be a gelato sandwich – a pressed sweet bread bun filled with hazelnut chocolate and gelato.

Are you the type of person who likes to Wok and roll? Bad joke aside, the Wok Station will be completely customizable and you’ll choose stir fry or ramen style, a protein including steak, chicken, shrimp or tofu, and then vegetables. If it doesn’t sound appealing, they’ll also feature sushi, tuna poke, crab spring rolls and dumplings. The Burger Station will be known as the home of hand sandwiches hat are of the grass-fed beef, Black Angus beef, turkey burger or vegetarian burger variety. With an assortment of cheeses and ridiculous toppings like bacon and fig jam things could get crazy. Don’t forget to try the gouda or roasted mushrooms. It’s not all about beef, poultry and veggies though. A Florida Grouper sandwich will be featured at this station.

Drinks are an important part of any Universal meal, so each food station will serve wine and beer themed to the cuisine in order to complement the flavors of the meal. It’s little touches like this that could set Urban Pantry apart from your average hotel food court.
