Universal Orlando Resort has added another chapter to its extraordinary year, earning top honors at the 2025 Thea Awards from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). The resort’s newest theme park, Universal Epic Universe, took home four Outstanding Achievement Awards, solidifying its reputation as a groundbreaking addition to the world of themed entertainment.

Epic Universe was recognized with Outstanding Achievement – Theme Park, the highest honor in the category. Three of its signature attractions also received significant distinctions: Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry for Outstanding Ride Experience, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment for Outstanding Attraction, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk for Outstanding Theme Park Land.

In addition, Dale Mason, a longtime Universal Creative executive who retired after more than 25 years, received the Buzz Price Thea Award for a Lifetime of Outstanding Achievement. Mason was instrumental in developing some of Universal’s most celebrated attractions, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Volcano Bay.
Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, praised the recognition, noting that Epic Universe “showcases the creativity, innovation, and passion of our Universal Creative team” and represents the culmination of years of collaboration and imagination.
Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, added that the honors reflect the dedication of thousands of team members who bring Universal’s stories to life each day.

Since its May 22, 2025 debut, Epic Universe has captivated guests with five immersive worlds – Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe – marking Universal’s most ambitious project yet.
With its four Thea Awards, Epic Universe joins Islands of Adventure and Universal Beijing Resort in earning global recognition for excellence in theme park design, innovation, and storytelling.
