This fall Universal CityWalk will undergo a fairly significant change for moviegoers. The AMC Universal Cineplex will have its final day of operation on September 13 and will reopen as Universal Cinemark on September 15.
This isn’t simply a change of name and branding, but Cinemark will be completely refurbishing the theater over several months. The refurbishment will include the addition of “Cinemark Luxury Loungers with extendable footrests, cup holders and plush seating” in all 20 theaters.
Additionally, Cinemark will be adding a Cinemark XD auditorium, which will feature an “expansive wall-to-wall screen, custom-engineered surround sound with multi-channel speakers and state-of-the-art projection systems capable of delivering 35 trillion colors.”
