Just recently, Universal revealed the latest artwork for the upcoming “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon” attraction and fans had mixed feelings. The picture depicts Jimmy Fallon driving some sort of CG car at a high speed in New York. Now, Universal’s official blog has released more details on the upcoming attraction, along with a making-of video and concept art of the building.

One part of the new addition will be the Studio 6B Club where you’ll “enjoy a live performance from the Ragtime Gals babershop quartet, or check out some of the show’s classic bits” including History of Rap and Lip Sync Battle. The “Tonight Show” mascot, Hashtag the Panda, will be there dancing. You’ll have the chance to send a personalized “Tonight Show” Thank You Note at your own Interactive Desk and prep for “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon” with a retro-style video game.

The ride itself will start with a briefing in the Studio 6B Lobby before moving into what Universal is describing as the “world’s first-ever flying theater, which seats up to 72 audience members for a rousing race alongside Jimmy Fallon through the greatest city in the world, New York”

Universal goes on to say:

From 30 Rock out into the streets (and the skies!) of The Big Apple, you and your fellow studio audience members will zoom past iconic New York City landmarks in an action-packed race with plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Be sure to keep an eye out for cameos from familiar characters like Sara from “Ew,” Jimmy in “Tight Pants,” and “Tonight Show” announcer Steve Higgins. All the sweet sounds of New York will come to life with the help of the Grammy award-winning band, The Roots, the musical masterminds behind the original attraction score

Universal also describes what you’ll see in the lobby, which will most likely end up being the queue. They say you will “get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see real set pieces,” including suits from past hosts, desk props, NBC video cameras, and a display honoring Jimmy Fallon.

The attraction will help preserve the most significant moments in the history of NBC “as you travel through the 62-year evolution” of the show. If they choose to leave out Conan O’Brien’s time as host of “The Tonight Show” then you’ll find at least one angry redhead protesting outside of the building.

Overall, it is nice to get some new details on the attraction including the official confirmation that it would be a “flying” attraction, but only time will tell how the attraction will actually translate to the real world. As far as the building goes, the new facade fits in with New York perfectly and looks to be a welcome addition in the synergistic NBCUniversal park.
