The Walking Dead returns to Halloween Horror Nights 24 and more!

The Walking Dead is coming back to Universal Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights 24, marking the show’s third year of being involved in the event. Back in 2012, The Walking Dead was represented as a maze in the Disaster queue showing off elements from Season 1 and Season 2. In 2013, Universal increased The Walking Dead‘s presence by adding scare zones themed to the show throughout the park as well as a brand new maze. This year, Universal has promised that the popular AMC television series will be the influence for the largest maze ever created for Halloween Horror Nights with double the cast.

The Walking Dead house will take you through the fourth season of the show starting with the prison and ending at Terminus. Along the way, you will also pass through familiar locations from the season including the country club, the moonshine shack and possibly more. No word has been given about whether or not The Walking Dead will also have a presence in the scare zones, but no other major details, including houses, have been announced yet.

Rumors have been floating around since HHN 22 that the contract with The Walking Dead was for three years, meaning if the rumors are true then this is the last year that the show will be featured during the yearly event. The show continues to build a larger fan base every year and crowds seemed to still enjoy the television series being featured during 2013, but in this case, three times might be too many. Although the scenes change each year it still feels the same due to the show keeping with a similar production design throughout the series. Instead of sticking with the popular and familiar series, it might be a better solution to borrow one of Universal Studios Hollywood’s old houses, specifically Insidious. Only time will tell if bringing back The Walking Dead for an unprecedented third year is a good decision.

In other Halloween Horror Nights news, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley will not be open during the event according to the HHN website. Attractions open during the event will include Transformers: The Ride – 3D, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, Men in Black Alien Attack, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and The Simpsons Ride.
