On Universal Orlando’s social, a speedometer and the sound of a revving engine with the mileage 012026 teases an announcement coming this Tuesday, January 20th! We can only assume this means the long-rumored Fast & Furious rollercoaster will officially be replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
This news comes on the heels of Universal Hollywood nearing completion on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift which is set to open this year. The Hollywood version of the coaster will be one-of-a-kind, with 360 degree rotations and speeds up to 72 miles per hour. This visually impressive coaster will be located on the Upper Lot with track built in to the side of the hills of Universal Hollywood.
At Universal Orlando, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit officially closed on August 18, 2025 without an announcement of what would replacement it. Over the past few months, the track has been completely removed, drastically changing the landscape of Universal Studios Florida. Most notably, removing the iconic loop behind the Music Plaza Stage.
Since then rumors have swirled over Rip Ride Rockit’s replacement – fans dreamed up rides themed to classic like Ghost Busters and Back to the Future. Fast & Furious seems like the obvious choice since Universal Hollywood is already building a similar coaster. If this is true, hopefully we’ll get an announcement soon on what will then replace Fast & Furious: Supercharged, also located in Universal Studios Florida. Even though Fast & Furious: Supercharged has only been open since 2017, it’s notoriously a unpopular Universal attraction often closed seasonally. Universal Hollywood also closed their version of the attraction to make way for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.
If you’re like me, this feels too fast, too furious. I mean, too much Fast & Furious. With 13 Fast & Furious movies and 1 more in production, I guess there is plenty of demand for this IP. One thing is for sure. Universal makes an incredible rollercoaster and it’ll be great to have a new offering at Universal Studios Florida!
