According to the Orlando Business Journal, Universal Parks & Resorts submitted a new patent on April 19 that hopes to help load guests onto attractions more efficiently. The new patent has been titled the Amusement Park Element Tracking System. The new system will use “reflective markers and a tracking system to determine the position of a ride or the status of a process with regards to a ride.”

The tracking system will be able to monitor the ride restraints, the positioning of the rider, and other ride elements before the progression of the ride begin. This system will help ride operators launch the ride vehicles more safely and efficiently. This efficiency could potentially lower wait times.
