Universal Theme Parks Q1 2021 Revenue Down

The Comcast 1st Quarter 2021 results are in and the company as a whole is off to a great start in 2021 with overall revenue up 2.2%. Theme parks under NBCUniversal once again reached breakeven excluding Universal Beijing Resort pre-opening costs. The theme parks division continues moving in a positive direction with Universal Studios Hollywood’s successful reopening on April 16.

Theme park revenue for Q1 2021 was down 33.1% to $619 million due to Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Japan operating at limited capacity. The revenue was also impacted by the closure of Universal Studios Hollywood. Theme parks adjusted EBITDA loss was $61 million for Q1 2021, which includes the approximately $100 million in pre-opening costs for the upcoming Universal Beijing Resort.
