VelociCoaster is Now in Technical Rehearsals

With Universal Orlando Annual Passholder previews for Jurassic World VelociCoaster now behind us, technical rehearsals for the new attraction were expected sooner than later. Guests didn’t have to wait too long, because Jurassic World VelociCoaster opened for technical rehearsals on May 7!

Jurassic World VelociCoaster officially opens on June 10, but it will most likely have technical rehearsals on most days. Obviously technical rehearsals, or soft openings, aren’t guaranteed, but VelociCoaster is running very well so far with little delays. Inclement weather has also been avoiding Central Florida, making sure there are blue skies and sunshine for the hunt.

Although I’ve had a couple of chances to ride VelociCoaster with the AP preview and media preview, I still made my way to Islands of Adventure to experience the ride once again. The wait time was posted at 75 minutes and they ended up closing the line shortly after I entered. From the moment I stepped into line to the time I was off and received my cell phone from the lockers, my timer said 65 minutes. Other posts on social media confirmed the line was actually under an hour at different times throughout the day despite being posted as 75 minutes.

The single rider line at Jurassic World VelociCoaster is also in use, but like the regular line, it can close at any time if it’s too full. I haven’t had a chance to experience it as a single ride, but the line appeared to be moving quickly. If I had to guess, it was probably 1/2 to 3/4 the wait of the regular line. It just depends on grouping. I’ve seen times where the single rider line ends up longer than standby because everyone is evenly matched.

If you’re looking for a chance to experience Jurassic World VelociCoaster before grand opening, now is your chance! Keep an eye on Universal Orlando’s official app to know its operational status and wait time.
