Portofino Bay Hotel Will Reopen December 1 with Renovated Rooms

Universal Orlando Resort closed Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at the start of the pandemic along with the rest of the on-property hotels, but it still hasn’t reopened. However, that will change starting December 1, 2020. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel will be welcoming back guests with newly-renovated rooms and suites throughout the whole property.

The newly-renovated rooms aren’t drastically different than the previous design. Based on the images provided by Universal Orlando Resort, the walls going to be a clean, comfortable white tone without any accent wall. The fabric on the headboards and room furniture have been adjusted and the carpet in the room has been replaced from a creme/grey look to a blue/orange style. Take a look at the rooms before the renovation below.

Of course, the exciting part of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel reopening is the return of another on-property hotel with free Universal Express Unlimited so you can skip the regular lines at participating rides and attractions at the theme park along with other on-site perks. In addition to the room renovations, safety and well-being protocols will be put in place throughout the hotel.

Wow, aside from the ugly carpeting, it’s not much nicer than some hospital rooms. Clearly they’re no longer designing the rooms to make you feel like you’re in Italy.
