Das Stakehaus is a quick service restaurant located in Dark Universe at Universal Epic Universe and serves burgers, sandwiches, steak, and entrees on a “stake.” Das Stakehaus is in the heart of Darkmoor Village and is run by vampires and their “familiars.” The atmosphere is dark and gloomy and is built into an inn and ancient catacombs. Mobile ordering is highly encouraged and food and drinks are brought directly to your table.

Take a Look at the Details Inside Das Stakehaus

One of the seating areas is set in the old catacombs with candlelit chandeliers and a portrait of Dracula’s bride.

One of our favorite details is the vampires’ favorite familiar who has since passed and is on display just around the corner from the restaurant’s registers. We can only imagine what tragedy befell this Vampire-loyal human. There are other “bodies” of vampires on display in the seating area – something to keep in mind with younger travelers.

Other details include heavy wood chairs adorned with bats, rock walls and ceilings, and murals depicting the monster’s plight against the citizens of Darkmoor. Unlike the Burning Blade Tavern, Das Stakehaus celebrates monsters and the art characterizes vampires as the heroes of Darkmoor Village.

During the preview period for Epic Universe, there is no outdoor seating, but there is a sign implying it will be available in the future. This area is located to the left of Das Stakehaus and is worth checking out to see some very animated vampires all tragically killed by a stake to the heart.

Entrées

Das Burger – seared Angus burger with tomato pepper chutney, white cheddar cheese, grilled onions, cherry peppers, and bacon a black bun and served with seasoned fries – $17.99
The Das Burger is a great theme park burger! The patty is cooked medium-rare and is juicy and flavorful. The melty white cheddar adds a nice sharpness and the sweetness from the tomato pepper chutney complements the smoky bacon. We were pleasantly surprised by the fries which had some seasoning (maybe smoked paprika?) and were crisp.

“Blood” Orange Chicken Sandwich – flash-fried marinated chicken breast, blood orange sauce, and pickles, with a familiar slaw on a black bun and served with seasoned fries – $17.99
Our Favorite Vegan Familiar’s Stuffed Cabbage – Impossible stuffed cabbage, beet bucatini, in a bell pepper tomato sauce – $16.99
Carved Staked Steak – carved strip steak, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, crispy maitake mushrooms with a bloody jus – $23.99
Darkmoor Black Wings – Darkmoor spicy chili-dusted fried wings with smoked cheddar, charred scallions, pimento cornbread skull, and soy chili garlic sauce, served with a familiar slaw – $15.99
Crimson Glazed Pork – Char-Siu style roasted pork belly with bloody roast pork dipping sauce, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, crispy maitake mushrooms – $19.99
Forager Salad (Gluten Sensitive) – crispy maitake mushrooms, acorn squash, red beets, blue cheese, arugula, and bibb lettuce, tossed in a blueberry pomegranate dressing with a grilled chicken stake – $15.99
Stakes
Fish on a Stake – blackened salmon “stake” with charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, and crispy maitake mushrooms – $22.99

Bird on a Stake – grilled dry-rubbed chicken tenderloin with red chimichurri, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, and crispy maitake mushrooms – $17.99
Our serving of Bird on a Stake was pretty dry and could have used more chimichurri. If the chicken had been properly cooked, it probably would have been great. The true winner is the charred green onion mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The mashed potatoes are so creamy and veggies are cooked just right.
Bits and Pieces (Vegetarian) – seared and glazed wild mushroom brisket meatloaf, with charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, and crispy maitake mushrooms– $19.99
Desserts

Red Velvet Death (Vegetarian) – red velvet heart “beet” coffin cake with chocolate crumbs and puffed rice maggots – $6.99
The Red Velvet Death is worth the visit to Das Stakehaus! The red velvet, beet cake is superb. The cake is moist with the right chocolatey flavor. Event better, the cream cheese frosting is rich and whipped to perfection. Combine the cake with the crumbs and puffed rice cereal and it’s a winning texture.

Labotocotta (Gluten sensitive) – Greek yogurt vanilla panna cotta brain with raspberry sauce – $6.99
While nothing compares to the Red Velvet Death cake, the Labotocotta exceeds expectations. The presentation is quite gruesome and very fitting while dining in the shadows of Frankenstein Manor. The panna cotta is creamy with a warm vanilla flavor that pairs nicely with the abundant, tart raspberry sauce.

Darkthorne Mead – blackcurrant-boysenberry session mead infused with pink peppercorn – $14
The Darkthorne Mead is another menu favorite! The sweetness from the boysenberry is coupled with the peppercorn flavor and is served chilled. This one goes down way too easy but you may find it too sweet to order a second round.

Reaper’s Reserve (made by Crooked Can exclusively for Dark Universe) – a classic brown ale with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove – $13
The Reaper’s Reserve tastes just like a holiday ale in the best way possible! The cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove really comes through but is still light enough to enjoy on a summer day.
