The Dead Coconut Club opened for a Team Member/ Annual Passholder preview on Tuesday, August 26th, and we enjoyed an early look at this year’s theme – Koven. Koven (Kappa Omicron, Lambda, Sigma, Nu) is a collegiate sorority for witches who have made the Dead Coconut Club their sorority house. Visitors are in luck because Koven is throwing its annual Samhain Bash and is accepting new pledges. Samhain is an ancient Celtic holiday when the veil between the living and the dead is eerily thin.
Know Before You Go
The Dead Coconut is located on the second level of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk and opens at 5 PM on nights when Halloween Horror Nights is offered. There is no admission fee and all ages are welcome to enjoy Koven at the Dead Coconut Club.

Fun details on the exterior of the Dead Coconut include fog-filled beer kegs covered in stickers like one from last year’s club – Vamp ’89, and a bike rack for witches’ brooms.

Once inside, there are two levels to enjoy, each with a unique menu and theming. Downstairs is themed to Koven’s chapter room with a dance floor, beer pong, spell books, cauldrons, cozy seating areas, and the sisters’ beloved cats, who also call the sorority house home.
Upstairs are the Koven sisters’ dorm rooms, complete with creepy plushes, a cozy futon, band posters, and a secret closet/ritual room with initiation robes, weapons, and past victims.

Downstairs Menu
The downstairs menu includes specialty cocktails that are a spin on college drinks, like fruit juice punches with plenty of booze. You can also get seasonal draft beers downstairs, like Whole Hog’s Pumpkin Ale and Crooked Can’s Oktoberfest. Both the specialty cocktails and the draft beers have the option to come in the 20-ounce souvenir cup as either a refill at a discounted price or a new purchase.

“Blinky Cup” No More – after last year’s recall of the themed Halloween Horror Nights “blinky cup”, the souvenir cup for HHN 34 is a 20-ounce plastic pint glass with a wrap-around stained glass design.

As with everything else for Halloween Horror Nights, the details inside Koven are incredible and plentiful. It’s clear a college party is under way with the boxes of pizza, red solo cups, and pledge shirts.

Over in the bar area, there are potions, an active cauldron, and an iPad for guests to look through some of Koven’s favorite spells.

A dimly lit dance floor is surrounded by tree branches, a full moon, and witch figures with a DJ playing pop songs you might expect to find in a sorority house. Periodically throughout the night, you can watch the Koven sisters cast a spell on their guests to perform a choreographed dance to get the party started.

Quite possibly the most fun detail is the cat corner of the downstairs, where you can cozy up to a fireplace, put your drink on a crocheted cat coaster, and see how many of Koven’s live-in cats you can find perched on cat towers and other furniture.

Heading up the stairs to the second level of the Dead Coconut Club, you’ll find a sorority composite picture and other historic pictures from Koven’s philanthropies and clubs.

Once in the witches’ rooms, you’ll spot mutilated dolls and plushes, KPop style band posters, a vanity set-up for getting ready for the party, and a closet that leads to Koven’s dark secrets.

There are some really fun details in this area, like call-backs to the lore of Carey, Ohio, the Slaughter Sinema II house from 2024, the Major Sweets Candy Co. house from 2024, and the scare zone from 2022.

The further you go into the second story, you find yourself in the room where all of the witches’ rituals take place, including casting spells and making human sacrifices. There is also plenty of seating upstairs, another bar, and plenty of photo ops.

We so enjoyed our first visit to Koven at the Dead Coconut and heard rave reviews from everyone around us. We can’t wait to return this Halloween Horror Nights season to enjoy more of the special beverage menu, see the Koven sisters perform, and see just how many details we can spot!
