HHN 28 Has 10 Houses and Confirms ’80s Theme

The theme for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 28 at Universal Orlando has been officially confirmed! We’ve been speculating for a while now that Halloween Horror Nights would have an ’80s theme and despite the announcement of Trick ‘r Treat, Universal has revealed on their Official Blog that the event will be inspired by the ’80s. Also announced, the annual event will feature more houses than ever with a combined total of 10! On top of that, you can expect five different scare zones in the park and the return of Academy of Villains for a third year!

In their announcement, Universal also announced the three original scare zone concepts they worked on for this year’s event, including The HarvestVamp 85: New Year’s Eve, and Twisted Traditions.

Universal’s description of Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve is:

Before the countdown to midnight has started, it’s clear this party has already been crashed, and the streets are running red with blood. You’ll enter what looks to be your typical New Year’s Eve bash until it’s too late. As the ball drops, fanged punks and big-haired vamps will start their feeding frenzy.

Universal’s description of The Harvest is:

An old barn is the setting of every kind of horror. Its walls are decorated with ominous objects and images from each house, hinting at the horrors to come. This barn is not as abandoned as it initially seems, and by the time you realize what lies within, it will be too late. Foul creatures lurk within, ready for a harvest of flesh and screams.

Universal’s description of Twisted Tradition is:

Travel through the forest of Central Park where an ancient evil has been awakened. Halloween has been transformed into an abomination with rotting pumpkins fused with decaying human flesh. Try and escape the grasps of these fetid beings, with nothing but the light from rotting jack o’ lanterns to guide you.

Based on the description, it’s pretty clear that Twisted Tradition will be located in the Central Park section connecting Hollywood to Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone. Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve could possibly be located in Hollywood considering its prequel, Vamp 55, was located in Hollywood. The Harvest sounds like it could be a good candidate for San Francisco considering in the past they’ve built rather large sets in that area the past couple years, but considering it says it will introduce people to the houses they’ll see then it’s very likely to be in Production Central.

As of this point, we still have 7 more houses to be announced and 2 more IP-based scare zones. Halloween Horror Nights 28 stars September 14 and runs 34 select nights through November 3.
