HamiKuma
What began as an original character developed for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Japan, HamiKuma has quickly turned into a staple of the event since its 2021 debut. Over the past four years, HamiKuma has grown from a single character to a social media icon and is known for his unique blend of cuteness and grotesque horror; a style popular in Japan called kowa-kawa, meaning “scary cute”.
Next month, in early September, the character will expand internationally, making his debut at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Beijing via new merchandise collections, including a popcorn bucket featuring adorably creepy phrases, plush headwear and much more. Stay tuned for more details regarding HamiKuma coming stateside, you never know where he’ll pop up…

We already want more! We can only hope Universal’s U.S. parks will also one day the see walk-around character… AND these adorable keychains which are currently noted as exclusive to Japan. With the rising trend of small plush purse pals, like Pop Mart’s Labubus, how could they not want to bring these over to stateside HHN fans?

Universal Orlando Additions & Tribute Store
In addition to these all-new collections, Universal Orlando Resort is offering themed merch inspired by Lil’ Boo and Mel’s Die-In.

This year’s Tribute Store will be located within Sahara Traders and the arcade next door (at the exit for Revenge of the Mummy). Themed to an abandoned Museum of Antiquities, you’ll enter the highly-themed retail space through the main atrium of the museum and venture into the “decrepit exhibit halls where an ancient evil was once unleashed…. and may still be lurking in the shadows… while shopping for the latest Halloween Horror Nights merchandise.”
What do you think of this year’s merch lineup? See anything you’re dying to pick up? In case you can’t make it to the parks, select merchandise will be available via Universal’s online shop.
