Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at Universal Orlando is undoubtedly THE premier Halloween event which includes incredibly themed haunted houses, shows, and scare zones all. Unfortunately, it can also bring scary-long wait times, making it hard to see and do it all in one or even two nights. As a Dreams Unlimited travel agent, I often get asked how to maximize time at HHN. One of the best ways to do this is purchasing the Express Pass as an add-on to your HHN ticket.
Express for Halloween Horror Nights starts at $179 plus tax per person and goes up to $300 depending on the date. This can seem like a lot especially after spending around $100 on your HHN admission ticket. Despite being Frequent Fear ticket holders, neither Ryno nor I had ever experienced HHN with Express and were curious if this pricey add-on was worth it. So we put Express to the test to see how much we could accomplish in one night. Here’s a look at how long we waited for each house –
Dolls: Let’s lay Dead
- Posted wait time – 50 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 8 minutes

Galkin: Monsters of the North
- Posted wait time – 60 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 7 minutes

Fallout
- Posted wait time – 60 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 3 minutes
Jason Universe
- Posted wait time – 100 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 5 minutes

Five Nights at Freddy’s
- Posted wait time – 80 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 5 minutes

Terrifier
- Posted wait time – 95 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 13 minutes

WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks
- Posted wait time – 35 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 7 minutes
El Artista: A Spanish Haunting
- Posted wait time – 35 minutes
- Wait time with Express – 9 minutes
As you can see, we waited no longer than a quarter of the posted wait time even at the most popular houses. We got to Halloween Horror Nights a little after 7 PM and were able to complete 8 houses, see both Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay and Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey, sample some of the food offerings, and soak in the scare zones. The best part of all, we never felt rushed and were able to truly enjoy the event.
With the price of HHN Express being so expensive, I really did not expect to see the value the way we did. If you’re only going one or two nights to Halloween Horror Nights, you almost have to get Express. It would be almost impossible to experience it all any other way. If it’s an extra you can add to your vacation, we think you’ll be glad you did.
There’s still time to experience Halloween Horror Nights! The event runs through November 2nd and there are still single-day tickets and Express Pass available. Dreams Unlimited Travel can help you book these tickets plus your Universal Orlando Resort stay.
