The holidays are in full swing at Universal Studios Florida, and they have a few limited-time treats to try. I was ecstatic when I learned we’d FINALLY be able to bite into an actual gingerbread Gingy cookie, the beloved Gingerbread Man from Shrek. But… does he taste as good as he looks?
Gingerbread Cookie | $6.99
- Found at Swamp Snacks and DreamWorks Imagination Cafe in DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida.

These Gingy cookies are baked fresh daily, and are all the more tasty for that exact reason. The flavors are really nice; the gingerbread spices are definitely there, but not too overwhelming. The more bites we took, the more we enjoyed it. I would have liked a little more of a crunch (I’m a sucker for ginger snaps), but Gingy offers a softer bite.

We were surprised they didn’t utilize actual gumdrops for his “gumdrop buttons”. As you can see from our bite shot, it’s just purple colored frosting. Personally, I don’t fault them too much for this — I’d rather have the little dots of buttercream versus gumdrops I probably would have ended up picking off.

Overall, we rate him a 4 out of 5 stars, deducting a star solely on the price point. He is pretty delicious, and adorable, but $7 for one cookie?

He’s adorable. He’s an icon. He’s delicious. Honestly, this little guy should be available in cookie form at Universal year-round. But maybe for, say, $5?
