Halloween Horror Nights 33 (HHN) ends soon on November 3rd and we’re panicking trying to soak in all that’s good from this year’s event! Unfortunately, we were late in the game to trying one of the best food dishes from the HHN booths.
Over at El Mercado de los Monstruos, located at Café la Bamba, we tried three of the four food items and found one to be clear winner you should try before the end of this HHN season.

Heart Beet Tostada – red beet tartare with hummus, vegan feta and watercress on a crispy tortilla for $7.49.
The beets with the creamy hummus and crunchy tortilla was a great combination but we didn’t get much flavor from this one. The vegan feta was definitely a miss and for $7.49 this is not one of the better values at Halloween Horror Nights.

Spinal Column Pinchos – grilled chicken tenders with red chimichurri for $10.99.
Don’t let the creepy name fool you – this flavorful chicken skewer is the clear winner from the Monstruos booth and a food highlight from HHN 33. The serving size is plentiful and the flavor from the fresh chimichurri was incredible with just the right amount of spice. A Team Member let us know the chimichurri is made in-house and you cant tell from the fresh cilantro taste. We also love that there was plenty of the chimichurri to accompany each bite of the chicken. You should absolutely try this one!

Chocolate Tres Leches – milk soaked chocolate cake with whipped topping and canela for $5.29.
If you know anything about Ryno, if there is a tres leches cake on the menu, he will try it! This one fell a little flat and tasted more like a pudding than a tres leches. The chocolate didn’t add much to the flavor but it was still an okay treat with a decent price point.
Be sure to watch our full experience at the El Mercado de los Monstruos and let us know in the comments what your favorite food item has been from HHN 33!
