This week, Universal Orlando Resort hosted a huge media preview and campaign to promote its brand new Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. In addition to the preview for the travel media, Universal Orlando played host to NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well as special segments filmed for The Today Show.

Official Opening Date: July 8th, 2014
On Wednesday morning, Universal Orlando announced the official opening date for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley on NBC’s The Today Show as well as a media event that took place at the resort itself. The president of Universal Orlando, Bill Davis, and a few of the stars from the Harry Potter films revealed that the new expansion in Universal Studios Florida will officially open on July 8th, 2014. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley Red Carpet
Before the first look preview of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley on Wednesday night, the media and onlooking guests were treated to a red carpet where stars of the Harry Potter films gave brief interviews and then joined together to collectively welcome media into Diagon Alley for the first time. Robbie Coltraine, who portrays Hagrid in the films, gave the signature line from the first movie to initially open Diagon Alley.
State of the Universe Media Presentation
In addition to announcing the official opening date of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Wednesday morning’s State of the Universe presentation, Bill Davis, president of Universal Orlando Resort and Thierry Coup, Senior Vice President of Universal Creative gave an overview of some recent changes to the resort.

Universal CityWalk Restaurant Preview
On Tuesday night to kick off the #DiagonAlleyPreview week, media was treated to a preview of some of the new restaurants coming to Universal CityWalk – including Hot Dog Hall of Fame, CowFish, and Vivo Italian restaurant, which opened the night prior. Seven hot dogs from Hot Dog Hall of Fame were available to try, each representing a city in America prepared in the style known for that location. Buns, franks, and toppings all changed based on the location. No food was available from CowFish, however an interactive bar top was demoed which allows guests to design their own fish and sea creatures, and then send them off to the virtual fishtanks throughout the restaurant.
