Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced its next major attraction, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most intense thrills the resort has ever built. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a high-speed outdoor roller coaster, is coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
The new attraction will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and take guests straight into the Fast & Furious universe with a ride experience designed around speed, movement, and precision driving. According to Universal, the coaster will feature 360-degree drifting, allowing riders to feel like they’re sliding through turns rather than simply racing along a track.
One of the most eye-catching elements of Hollywood Drift will be a massive vertical “spike” that launches riders nearly 17 stories into the air. The 170-foot structure will tower over the edge of Universal CityWalk, creating a highly visible new landmark and delivering a moment of weightlessness before plunging riders back into the action.
Universal says the attraction will put guests “in the driver’s seat” of the Fast & Furious franchise in a way that hasn’t been done before, marking a major step forward for the property at the theme parks. The coaster will join Universal Orlando’s growing lineup of headline thrill rides and continues the resort’s recent momentum toward larger, more technically ambitious attractions.
Universal Studios Hollywood is also getting its own version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, with a separate outdoor coaster set to open later this year. While both rides share the same name and overall concept, Universal notes that each version will be unique to its respective park.
As part of this transition, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027 to make way for the new coaster.
Universal says more details about Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be released in the months ahead as construction progresses.
