Vintage is Universal: Shopping Souvenirs of the Past

ChloƩ Ferreira

GREAT SCOTT! I’m back with more vintage fun finds from Universal Orlando’s past! I don’t know about you, but I often find myself spending my souvenir dollars on vintage theme park pieces versus something from the parks today. (I say that, but then those Tribute Stores get me… or new Dark Universe merchandise drops.) They just don’t make them like they used to, you know? Please enjoy this next showcase of my handpicked items that are currently available on eBay. Let’s briefly step back in time, shall we? Roll those cameras and ready those wallets!

ā€˜Psycho’ Bates Motel Keytag

She wouldn’t even harm a fly. Today’s first find commemorates the long-gone Bates Motel Set which was once part of the Woody Woodpecker KidZone (now DreamWorks Land) at the Studios park.

This keychain is pretty rare to find, and the ā€˜Mike’ personalization adds a certain charm… or maybe you have a Mike in your life who would appreciate it even more? I’m a huge fan of the gilded retro logo on the backside.

1990 E.T. Thimble

While we’re back in KidZone, let’s hop over to E.T. Adventure — an attraction that still stands today. However, you likely won’t find this pewter souvenir thimble in the gift shop! Whether you sew, collect thimbles or theme park goodies from the past, the irony of E.T. pointing his little finger makes this a clever and unique design.

Universal Studios Shot Glass

Here’s another mini contribution for your collection: a frosted shot glass from the 1990s! Featuring gold detailing with iconic imagery from Universal Studios Florida, including the entrance arches, globe, Mel’s Drive-In, New York and San Francisco skylines, and a DeLorean flying through the sky.

Available HERE | $6.95

Hanna-Barbera Retro Logo Tee

While there’s a plethora of retro logo-laden t-shirts on eBay, I haven’t come across this Hanna-Barbera design that often. This one-size-fits-most option features a fun blue hue with George Jetson, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, and Fred Flintstone at the center. Plus, it still has the ol’ Hanna-Barbera branded tag on it!

Available HERE | $16.99

Ah, that last one takes me back to the slightly off-putting 3D-molded sign from The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera…

That’s a wrap! Let me know if you’d like to see anything specific in the future for my upcoming digs. Happy hunting!
