Universal has announced that “Jurassic Park – The Ride” at Universal Studios Hollywood will be closing on September 3, 2018Read more
The Lower Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood is definitely the part of the park meant for thrill seekers. The action begins as you take miles and miles of escalators known as the Starway down the side of the mountain Universal Studios is built on to get to the Lower Lot. Once there you have your choice of dinosaurs, mummies and robots.
Jurassic Park River Adventure
As you make your way down the Starway, it’s impossible to ignore the screams coming from Jurassic Park River Adventure. This attraction takes guests on a calm water ride through Jurassic Park until power is lost and Velociraptors, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and more dinosaurs are on the loose causing you to plummet down a giant 84-foot plunge.
Revenge of the Mummy
Regardless of how you feel about The Mummy franchise starring Brendan Fraser, give Revenge of the Mummy a chance mostly because the attraction has barely anything to do with the series. Revenge of the Mummy is part dark ride and part roller coaster, but the entire experience is completely thrilling. Revenge of the Mummy might be a bit intense for younger coaster enthusiasts, but don’t expect any big drops or looping in this one.
Transformers: The Ride – 3D
Join Optimus Prime and the Autobots as you ride along with Evac to protect the AllSpark and save the Earth from the Decepticons in the moving motion simulator attraction based on the popular Transformers film franchise by Michael Bay. For those that get motion sickness easy, this is an attraction that you’ll want to definitely take some sort of motion sickness pill or skip it completely.
The NBC Universal Experience
Although it is more of a museum rather than an attraction, this is one of the most passed by buildings at Universal Studios Hollywood and it is a completely shame. Inside you’ll be able to experience the history of Universal and Universal Studios Hollywood through dioramas of merchandise, old attraction memorabilia and movie props, including one of the hero cars from Back to the Future and other recent and classic motion pictures.
Dining options on the Lower Lot include:
- Jurassic Cafe
- Panda Express
- Ben & Jerry’s
- Jurassic Outfitters
- Transformers Supply Vault
- Character Shop
