Following yesterday’s announcement confirming a brand-new Universal theme park and resort in the United Kingdom, we couldn’t help but start imagining the types of lands and attractions hinted at in the concept art. Well, we may not have to wonder any more! The BBC has reported several brands that are expected to be included in the all-new park.
Universal strives to offer unique experiences at each of its parks, and the Bedfordshire location is expected to showcase attractions that won’t be found anywhere else. According to an insider source, guests can expect appearances from popular brands such as James Bond, Lord of the Rings, and Paddington at the Universal UK park.
The BBC was told other areas and attractions at the park will be inspired by Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and Minions. Noted attractions from the source include an indoor stunt show based on 007, similar to The Bourne Stuntacular at Universal Studios Florida, a Paddington-themed land, an indoor Lord of the Rings attraction, and outdoor roller coasters based on Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Minions. The locations can be seen on the map of what the sites could look like, although specific details have been obscured; such as the Hill Valley clock from Back to the Future.
Notably, a Wizarding World of Harry Potter area will not be part of the park, as it would be located just 40-minutes of a drive from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Hertfordshire. Due to this exclusivity, it made it difficult for Hogwarts to be included in the plans. However, there’s room for future potential expansions including brands like Potter, Nintendo, or Wicked.
Of course, this lineup of brands has not been confirmed by Universal. The new resort is planned for a 2031 opening, and things could change — regardless if contracts are in the works or not. However, this would mark a completely fresh approach for their Universal parks, as none of these British intellectual properties (IPs) are currently featured in any existing locations. The UK park would also introduce unique attraction styles for those returning IPs like Jurassic Park and Minions.
