Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse informed his staff late yesterday that Emeril’s Orlando, one of the original eateries at Universal CityWalk, will be closing this summer, with the last day of operation on July 7th.

Lagasse said of the closure, “We have deeply enjoyed the opportunity to serve our loyal guests and are immensely appreciative of our entire staff for their dedication and service.”

Lagasse gave no reason for the closure, however, Lagasse also closed his restaurant, Tchoup Chop, inside the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at the end of last year.

Tom Schroder, a spokesperson for Universal Orlando adds, “We are sad to see them go, but we respect their decision. We’ve enjoyed our relationship with Emeril and his entire team, and we are thankful for the years of great dining and great service they’ve offered our guests.”

According to Schroder, Emeril’s employees can apply for other positions at Universal.
