Comcast released their 2nd Quarter 2018 earnings report along with their earnings call this morning and the news was positive for their theme park division. Revenue for theme parks increased 3.6% to $1.4 billion in Q2. Comcast is attributing the growth to higher per capita spending driven by new attractions like Fast & Furious – Supercharged, but also offset by the timing of holidays compared to 2017. The Year to Growth revenue increased 8.6% from $2.4 billion in 2017 to $2.6 billion in 2018, mostly due to higher per capita spending.

As for the rest of NBCUniversal, revenue was flat for Q2. The increase in revenue for Theme Parks and Cable Networks were offset by Filmed Entertainment. The decrease in revenue for Filmed Entertainment is attributed to the strength in last year’s releases, including Fate of the Furious, as well as the timing of this quarter’s releases, mainly Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Home Entertainment revenue took a big hit in 2018 due to the strength of home sales in 2017 for Fifty Shades Darker, Sing, Split, and Get Out.
