It feels like it’s been forever since Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle was announced for Universal Parks. The third projection show happening on Hogwarts Castle promised something many fans have been wanting more of – the darker side of Harry Potter. The show debuted in Spring at Universal Studios Hollywood, but now it will finally open at Universal Orlando Resort on select nights starting September 14 through November 15. That’s right… it’s opening at the perfect time of the year to view the show!

As previously stated, this is the third unique projection show on Hogwarts Castle. The first was The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle that showcased the holiday side of Harry Potter. The second was The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle that focused more on house spirit at Hogwarts. Of those two, The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle is the better show and a must-see if you’re visiting during the holiday season.

The new show, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle, might even give The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle a run for its money. The show covers many dark locations and creatures from Harry Potter. You’ll see Borgin and Burkes come to life along with spiders, thestrals, trolls, dementors, and Death Eaters! As exciting as that sounds, the show is actually very slow paced and much more dramatic than the other projection shows.

Beyond the show, Universal also revealed that for the first time ever, guests would be able to encounter Death Eaters in Hogsmeade! Universal says:

Ominous green light and fog will permeate the village, signaling the arrival of the Death Eaters. They’ll eerily roam throughout Hogsmeade, lurking amongst guests – practicing the Dark Arts with complete disregard of wizarding laws.

If the show is a complete replica of the one from Universal Studios Hollywood, this show is a must-see if you’re visiting Universal Orlando Resort this Halloween season and is a perfect complement to Halloween Horror Nights, and it just gets even better with the Death Eaters. Remember, you only have from September 14 through November 15 to see the show!
