The Bourne Stuntacular Coming to Universal Orlando in 2020

It’s been a long time since rumors of a Jason Bourne stunt show at Universal Studios Florida began to pop up and it feels like it’s been just as long since the rumors were accepted as reality. A source confirmed to us months ago that work was definitely being done on a Bourne stunt show, but now we have official confirmation from Universal Orlando Resort! In Spring 2020, The Bourne Stuntacular will open at Universal Orlando!

Universal promises that the live action Bourne stunt show will “blur the lines between stage and cinema in a hybrid from of entertainment that has never been done before.” They’ll accomplish this in front of guests with the help of live action performers, high-tech props and a LED screen that “will make it impossible to discern where the live action ends and the cinema begins.” The show will feature everything that fans have come to expect from the Bourne film series, including but not limited to thrilling chase scenes, punishing fistfights, death-defying leaps and danger at every turn as the story follows Jason Bourne around the globe as sinister characters pursue him.

Prior to the official announcement, details were temporarily posted and later removed on the official Universal Annual Passholder page saying:

In Spring 2020, join your AP family as Universal Studios Florida debuts a live-action stunt show that will leave audiences marveling, “How on earth did they do that?” Through a cutting-edge fusion of stagecraft and film, you’ll follow our hero Jason Bourne across three continents as sinister characters pursue him, hoping to bring him in. You don’t just watch it. You feel it. See it a few times to really take it all in.

Brace yourself for what’s next. Brace yourself for The Bourne Stuntacular.

It has also been confirmed that The Bourne Stuntacular will be located in the former location of Terminator 2: 3-D in Hollywood at Universal Studios Florida. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone, especially since the walls surrounding the former entrance were just recently removed, but it’s nice to have the official confirmation anyways.

The only remaining question we have about The Bourne Stuntacular is whether or not the Bourne film series is even relevant anymore? A Bourne television series called Treadstone is debuting on the USA Network keeping the franchise alive, but will it resonate with Universal Orlando guests? The Fast & Furious franchise is a worldwide success on an even more massive scale than the Bourne franchise, but Fast & Furious – Supercharged hasn’t been the hit that was expected. At the very least, it’s nice to see a new stunt show coming to Universal Orlando as this style of attraction has fallen out of fashion over the past few years.

Are you excited for the Jason Bourne series to come to life at Universal?

Seems like they are at least a decade behind. Bourne was very popular in the early 2000’s then they tried having Jeremy Renner take over the Franchise, only to bring an aging Matt Damon out of his Bourne retirement. Now Universal things Bourne is popular? Doesn’t make any sense. Yes there is a new series coming out on USA network, but I just don’t see that as enough to bring back the Bourne popularity.

Yea…what Ed said below. Nearly everything at these parks (Universal and Disney) is based on older stuff and some could fit the description you just gave. At least with Bourne there’s a new series coming out.

If Bourne wasn’t popular, they wouldn’t play it on cable TV so much. I’ll admit that if it’s on and I’m surfing around, I might watch it again. And tonight I’ll be watching the new series.

Also, just FYI Jeremy Renner and Matt Damon are nearly the same age. Damon would have done Bourne 4 but opted out due to Paul Greengrass not directing. Greengrass returned for Bourne 5, and so did Damon. He wasnt in retirement.

Umm…Were Western Movies anywhere CLOSE to relevant when the Wild Wild Wild West Stunt show opened in the 1970’s?? That played for well over 25 years and is STILL beloved from just about anyone who saw it! And, the single most successful live-action show that Universal has EVER had…was from WATERWORLD!! If the show is entertaining, it will find an audience (Heck, even if its SINBAD, it’ll find an audience, since THAT played for 20 years!!
