Initial Thoughts From the First Stay at Universal Terra Luna Resort

The newest Universal Orlando Resort hotel had its grand opening just yesterday, March 25th. Terra Luna Resort is located right next to Universal Stella Nova Resort. Terra Luna is inspired by the thrill of exploring the unknown, pushing the limits of discovery, and stepping into new landscapes; such as, for example, Epic Universe, the brand new Universal theme park opening on May 22nd. Terra Luna was dreamed up by the Universal Creative team, and is co-owned and operated by Loews Hotels & Co.

Since we initially checked out Terra Luna’s sister resort, Stella Nova, I’ve anxiously awaited the opening of Universal’s next space-themed value resort. We just checked in for a few nights, here are my initial thoughts on Terra Luna!

Universal Terra Luna Resort… BLAST OFF!

It’s hard to miss the two, massive colorful buildings as you pull into the resort area. The exterior of Terra Luna and Stella Nova are made up of shiny colorful tiles, reminiscent of space and galaxies.

Resort Lobby & Details

Upon stepping inside, you’re greeted with a sculpted minimalist-style space-themed lobby; filled with sweeping curves, round light features evoking far off moons and suns, and plenty of white finishes, pockets of textured wood, and celestial imagery.

One of our favorite lobby features was the porthole of a hologram planet, it’s three-dimensional and seems to follow you as you pass by! Don’t miss catching this detail in person.

The lobby also hosts a Universal Studios Store, where you can find sundries and select merchandise from Epic Universe.

Resort Rooms

The vast hallways leading to the rooms definitely evoke the feeling of being lost in space… until you find your room!

Each of the 750 new guest rooms feature two queen beds and space station-styled windows. I love the look and feel of the rooms. They’re sleek, clean, and roomy. Just like Stella Nova, the beds are quite comfortable. Firm, but not off-putting!

Each of the rooms are equipped with a mini fridge, Cuisinart coffee maker, and plenty of charging ports for those devices you’ll be heavily using while visiting the parks!

Dining & Amenities

The resort’s dining options includeĀ Omega Cafe and Market, Luna Bar (located inside the lobby), and Moonrise Bar and Grill (outside, near the pool area). Stay tuned for our thoughts on our food selections!

Terra Luna features a zero-entry pool, hot tub, splash pad, fire pit, fitness center, game room. Nightly movies also play on a projector screen by the pool.

The outdoor pool bar and grill continues more of that lunar, space-age feel throughout the finishes and furniture:

Transportation

It is important to note that Terra Luna does NOT offer a walking path to Epic Universe, while Stella Nova does. All of Universal Orlando’s theme parks and Universal CityWalk are accessible via complimentary shuttle buses from Terra Luna.

Since the resort is a good 20-minute drive or bus ride away from the other Universal Orlando Parks and CityWalk, and that drive is straight through a messy hot zone of construction (not pictured), I wouldn’t exactly recommend staying here before Epic Universe opens. But come May 22nd, Terra Luna is an out-of-this-world option for the price!

Just like Stella Nova, this feels like a space-themed hotel within the value resort category, which is exactly what it is. There’s just enough amenities to enjoy your time in-between the parks, or for a full day of rest and pool time between busier park days; without any additional bells and whistles you’d find at the more upscale resorts.

Our team is staying at Terra Luna for a few nights this week; stay tuned for more content from UOFan.com and our YouTube Channel!
