Is Epic Universe’s Toadstool Cafe Still A Winner for Families?

Hannah Anderson

Toadstool Cafe is located inside Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe and is a sensory overload for Mario fans! The menu is highly themed offering burgers, chicken sandwiches, spaghetti, and colorful desserts. Once seated inside, you’ll have a view of the Mushroom Kingdom with unexpected visitors like other Toads and Bowser Jr. This quick service restaurant offers Mobile Order and typically has a line to get seated. Lunch time is the busiest but you can usually walk right in later in the evening.

With so many stellar food options at Epic Universe, is Toadstool Cafe worth the visit?

The seating area is quite large and once your food has been ordered, it’s brought directly to the table. During busy times, you are seated by a Team Member without having to scour for a table yourself. These details make the experience that much more efficient and enjoyable. You’ll also notice all of the food is served on real plates with lots of theming, making the meal for elevated for a quick service experience.

Mario Burger – all beef patty, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, Thousand Island dressing, and American cheese served on a brioche bun with a side of truffle French fries – $19.90

A step above your average theme park burger with clever theming and above-average toppings. The patty is a little on the dry side but with the mustache bun and Mario hat skewer, how could you be mad? The crinkle cut fries have subtle truffle seasoning and fried perfectly.

The kids meals shine the brightest at Toadstool Cafe! In fact, I would recommend this meal for most adults and think it’s the best kids meal at Universal Orlando. The burger is of a similar quality as the bigger Mario burger except you get more fun theming and more sides. Both the broccoli and the corn were steamed with the right amount of a crunch and was a nice way to add veggies to a day full of theme park food. Both the Mario figure and Mario flag skewers are take-home souvenirs.

The coin dessert is genius! It’s an Oreo cookie with a thick coating of white chocolate and looks just like one of the coins. Between the portion size and themed amenities, this is a great value!

The marinara is a great choice for picky eaters and is a filling vegetarian option. The Power-Up crisps are purely for aesthetic and tastes like a cracker wafer. On the other-hand, the garlic knot is incredible. It’s soft and cheesy with plenty of garlic. You can also order the garlic knots as an appetizer and would be a great call for anyone sharing multiple menu items.

The cake is light and similar to a Chantilly cake. Princess Peach’s Cake is a sweet treat that’s not too heavy but with incredible details. The serving size is huge and easily feeds 4 people. This is a really fun way to celebrate a birthday at Epic Universe!

Toadstool Cafe is absolutely worth a visit on your Epic Universe day – especially if you have Super Nintendo fans! My tip is to share items or order the kids meal to save space for more Epic Universe food. Your whole group will enjoy the over-the-top atmosphere and creatively themed dishes.
