Universal Epic Universe has only been open for a little over a year, and Universal Orlando Resort is already getting ready to add another major attraction!
Universal announced today that an all-new indoor roller coaster is coming to Dark Universe, the land dedicated to Universal’s classic monsters. The new attraction will be located next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and will feature an original story inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise.
Construction is already underway, although Universal hasn’t announced an opening date beyond saying the coaster will debut sometime in the years ahead.
It’s exciting to see Universal moving forward with a new attraction so soon after Epic Universe opened in May 2025. Dark Universe is already home to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Curse of the Werewolf, and this new indoor coaster will give guests another reason to spend time exploring the monster-filled village of Darkmoor.
Universal hasn’t shared details about the coaster’s ride system, storyline, or which monsters might appear. We also don’t know whether it will be a family-friendly experience or something geared toward bigger thrill seekers. For now, we’ll have to wait to see what Universal has planned.
More New Experiences Coming to Universal Orlando
The Dark Universe announcement is just one piece of a much bigger lineup of additions coming to Universal Orlando Resort.
Universal also highlighted several projects scheduled to open over the next year:
- Universal Horror Make-Up Show featuring Blumhouse: A reimagined version of the longtime Universal Studios Florida show is expected to open later in 2026.
- Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift: The new high-speed roller coaster is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
- New Jurassic Park Restaurant: A signature full-service restaurant is coming to the Jurassic Park area of Universal Islands of Adventure in 2027.
- Luke Combs’ Category 10: A new music and entertainment venue is expected to open at Universal CityWalk in late 2027.
With several new experiences already on the calendar for 2027 and another major coaster now under construction at Epic Universe, Universal clearly isn’t slowing down.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details about the Dark Universe coaster, especially which Universal Monsters will be part of its story. There’s plenty of room for Universal to have some fun with this one!
