Universal Orlando just dropped a massive roundup of changes heading to the resort this summer and into 2027. Some are exciting new arrivals, some are sad goodbyes, but all of them show the destination is in the middle of a serious transformation. Here’s a project-by-project breakdown of everything that’s happening:
Horror Make-Up Show | Universal Studios Florida
Closes May 12, 2026 | Returns later this year
One of USF’s longest-running live shows is getting a total refresh. Starting May 12, 2026, Horror Make-Up Show will go dark for renovations. When it returns later this year, it’ll feature a mix of classic and modern horror properties, plus “shockingly fun surprises,” while keeping the beloved comedic, irreverent tone that fans have adored for decades.

Lost Continent | Universal Islands of Adventure
Permanent closures begin in phases over the coming months
Lost Continent — one of Islands of Adventure‘s original lands — will begin losing its venues and experiences in phases over the coming months, making way for an all-new themed area. While the popular year-round Halloween ‘All Hallows Eve’ shop closed earlier this year, the iconic Mythos Restaurant, which has long been regarded as one of the best theme park restaurants, is confirmed to close in 2027. No details on the replacement land have been announced yet, but something major is clearly in the works!

Thunder Falls Terrace | Universal Islands of Adventure
Closes this summer | New restaurant debuts 2027
Say goodbye to Thunder Falls Terrace as we know it. The restaurant within Jurassic Park will close this summer and get a full re-theme, transforming into the new signature full-service restaurant for all of Islands of Adventure. With Mythos on the way out, IOA will need a flagship dining spot, and it sounds like this could be its worthy successor. More details on the new concept are expected in the coming months.

Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice | Universal CityWalk
Hot Dog Hall of Fame closes July 2026 | Fat One’s opens after
*NSYNC’s Joey Fatone is coming to CityWalk! His restaurant concept Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice, co-founded with manager Joe Mulvihill, will take over the space currently occupied by Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which closes in July 2026. The new spot promises creative, flavor-packed hot dogs, Italian ices, and more.

Previously Announced & Still on the Way
A few other projects were confirmed earlier and remain on track: Five Guys is joining the CityWalk dining lineup, country star Luke Combs is bringing his Category 10 restaurant concept to CityWalk, and the brand-new high-speed roller coaster Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
Additional details on each project are expected to be shared in the months ahead.
