Universal and Diagon Alley awarded by Themed Entertainment Association
For those who have seen The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, there is no doubt that it is the best themed area of any theme park, period. The TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) feels the same way and awarded Universal three Thea Awards for their work on Diagon Alley. The 21st annual Thea Awards Gala will be held in Anaheim, California on March 21, 2015, but the recipients were announced at the 2014 IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parts and Attractions) Convention in Orlando, Florida. The Thea Awards are considered one of the attraction industry’s greatest honors, so this is a big deal.
Universal Orlando will be honored with the Paragon Award for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, specifically in regards to Diagon Alley, the Hogwarts Express, and the retail/dining in Diagon Alley. The TEA believes, “…in the themed industry, (Diagon Alley is) the yardstick by which all will now be measured.” Universal also will be recognized for Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in the Attractions category, and their Interactive Wand Experiences in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in the Technical Excellence Category.
