Universal’s Great Movie Escape Rooms Opening December 9

Universal’s Great Movie Escape will open at Universal CityWalk on December 9! The immersive escape rooms inspired by Jurassic World and Back to the Future can be booked now. Pricing starts at $49.99 per person, plus tax, and private rooms are available for larger groups.

Universal’s entertainment team partnered closely with filmmakers and escape room industry experts around the country to create innovative experiences that go beyond the typical escape room – blending state-of-the-art challenges, detailed sets and original storylines to immerse guests in story-driven adventures that allow them to escape into the movies like never before.

Universal’s Great Movie Escape is designed for escape room experts and newcomers. The experience will be randomized o the solution can vary with each visit adding repeatability to the escape rooms. It will be customizable depending on the group size so everyone is able to participate.

Here is a breakdown of Jurassic World: Escape:

Guests are new geneticists at a secret lab on Isla Nublar, where they are undergoing training that includes the completion of various day-to-day tasks that range from feeding ferocious dinosaurs to splicing dinosaur DNA to create new genetic codes…until they learn an apex predator has broken free and now they must work together to avoid becoming its prey.

Here is a breakdown of Back to the Future: OUTATIME:

Guests are transported to a museum in 1993, where they learn Back to the Future’s antagonist, Biff, is up to his antics and has stolen Doc Brown’s newest time travel device to sabotage the space-time continuum. Guests must work together to uncover Doc Brown’s clues as they travel through time to track down Biff and save the past and future before they run “outatime.”

The $49.99 per person, plus tax starting price point is for times before 6:00 pm. Booking times vary and it looks like it will open around 10:45 am on most dates with slots being available every 30 minutes to an hour. The most expensive before 6:00 pm ticket right now is $64.99 per person, plus tax.

The starting price jumps to $59.99 per person, plus tax after 6:00 pm, and maxes out at $64.99 per person, plus tax. Booking times are available up to 10:30 pm for now.

The escape rooms include up to six guests per group, so if you don’t have six people in your group you may end up with other parties. You can book a private experience for your party if you’d prefer not to be with other groups and private rooms allow up to eight people. Private experience pricing starts at $300 per group and can max out at $390 as of now.

Tickets are required for guests ages 3 and up. Guests under 3 won’t be included in the guest count for the room. Tickets include complimentary regular self-parking with advance purchases. Guests should plan on 90 minutes to experience Universal’s Great Movie Escape, including check-in. All guests are required to arrive 16 minutes prior to the allotted start time. Guests using an ECV must transfer into a standard wheelchair provided at check-in to experience Universal’s Great Movie Escape.

Tickets for Universal’s Great Movie Escape are currently available through April 30, 2023.
