Universal Orlando has officially confirmed that Shrek 4-D at Universal Studios Florida will officially be closing on January 10, 2022. As of this time, there is no official announcement regarding what will replace Shrek 4-D.

The attraction opened in 2003 and has felt dated for years. Many who grew up with the Shrek movies still love the character and attraction, but Shrek hasn’t really been relevant for quite some time and Universal doesn’t shy away from removing attractions that are past their prime.

If you want to be able to relive the attraction after it closes, you can always pick up a used copy of it on DVD since it was officially released alongside the first Shrek movie, or you can watch it on Netflix in the Dreamworks Spooky Stories series as “The Ghost of Lord Farquaad.”

Also closing, but not permanently, in January 2022 will be Revenge of the Mummy as part of an 8-month long refurbishment. The popular attraction will reopen in Summer 2022.
