Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon opens April 6

We now have an opening date for Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon! Fallon announced on The Tonight Show that his attraction will be opening April 6 to coincide with a live taping at Universal Studios Florida from April 3 – 6.

For those of you out there who have forgotten, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon will be a “flying” simulator attraction that Fallon compares to Soarin’ and will put you up against him in a wild race through New York where you will see famous sights, sounds, smells, and apparently get wet at one point. What kind of simulator would it truly be if there wasn’t water involved.

Also confirmed with this announcement is that Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon will be the first attraction to feature a Virtual Line experience. By using the Official Universal Orlando Resort App or kiosks outside of the attraction, you’ll be able to book a time that you want to experience the attraction, then go about your day, and return when it’s your time. Universal has been testing this type of system with Shrek 4-D and Pteranodon Flyers and the only drawback to this system is the confusion involved. Believe me, stand outside of Shrek 4-D and you will constantly see big clumps of confused tourists, many who have language barriers, that don’t understand why there is no standby line.

Finally, let’s talk about soft openings. While the attraction doesn’t have its Grand Opening until April 6, it is very likely that we WILL see soft openings before that date. Many Universal Orlando team members have been speculating that we might even see the attraction start soft openings as early as late January/early February, but sometime in March seems more likely. Skull Island: Reign of Kong was soft opening for about a month before its Grand Opening, but every attraction is different.

Regardless, start booking your vacations now for Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon coming to Universal Studios Florida this April!
