After years of waiting, Universal Orlando Resort has finally announced they are adding escape rooms to Universal CityWalk. The patents first surfaced online back in 2018 with the name Universal’s Great Movie Escape. Permits were pointing towards The Groove at Universal CityWalk as the likely place for Universal’s newest offering, which is a better use of the space than a nightclub. Now we just have to wait and see what the final product will look like!
Universal’s Great Movie Escape is set to open this fall and the first two featured films are Jurassic World and Back to the Future. The houses are being created by the same team responsible for Halloween Horror Nights so the escape rooms will definitely be filled with incredible details and totally immersive.
Through interactive state-of-the-art missions, captivating storytelling and intricately detailed sets, guests will be swept into the dinosaur adventures of Jurassic World or the time-traveling chaos of Back to the Future as they solve their way through a multi-sensory experience like no other.
If you’ve never experienced an escape room, the premise is that you’re locked inside a room with a group of people and your goal is to look for clues and complete puzzles to be able to escape the room. The themes can vary wildly along with difficulty. The rooms are usually very immersive and require teamwork to be able to succeed in escaping. These rooms may not be too difficult to complete considering it is plopped in the middle of Universal CityWalk, but it would be great to see Universal making one of the two experiences very challenging.
Tickets aren’t on sale yet for the experience, which makes sense considering there’s no opening date besides fall, but tickets will go on sale in the months ahead along with more information about Universal’s Great Movie Escape.
